Attorney Dash DeJarnatt maintains a broad-based practice, including taxation, real estate, business transactions and corporate governance, trademarks and copyrights, estate planning, and elder law.

Tax issues are ever-present in transactional work and small contractual changes can have millions of dollars in impact.  Whether clients have a 1031 exchange, an M&A reorganization, or are setting up an estate plan, Dash ensures that clients optimize their tax strategies while achieving their primary goals.

Dash assists clients with various real estate transactions including deeds, buy-sells, easements, leases, liens, and 1031 tax-deferred transactions.

Business Law & Corporate Governance

With extensive experience in business formation, contract drafting and facilitating commercial transactions Dash represents clients on the transactional side of building and maintaining business entities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and managing partnership disputes.

Estate planning can be difficult and challenging, especially for those owning businesses or significant real estate. Dash provides comprehensive estate planning representation with the goal of protecting inheritances for beneficiaries, minimizing estate taxes, and furthering succession planning goals.

Intellectual Property

Dash offers a full range of trademark and copyright services to entrepreneurs and established businesses.  He assists in state and federal trademark clearance searches, filings, portfolio management, and litigation.  He also works on copyright take-down claims and pursues damages for unlawful use of intellectual property. He is also the Secretary of the Montana Bar Intellectual Property Section.

Elder Law

When elderly individuals are incapacitated and unable to make informed decisions, whether those decisions involve health care or finances, someone else needs authority from a Probate Court to assume responsibility for that person’s affairs.  In these situations, Dash assists the families with guardianship and conservatorship matters to protect loved ones.

Dash grew up in Seattle, Washington and moved to Bozeman in 2017. He received his Bachelor’s degree in 2010 from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington with a Major in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate cum laude from Seattle University where he was the Editor-at-Large for the Seattle Journal for Social Justice. Dash is an active member of the Montana State Bar, including serving as the Secretary of the Intellectual Property Section. When off the clock, Dash enjoys getting into trouble with his daughter, hiking, brewing beer, and rooting on his Seattle sports teams.
